Super-Duper Busy As a Bee Weekend!!!!!

Hello, readers! I am doing a post about what I am doing lately. This upcoming Sunday is the Pig Roast at our church, and I am busy trying to get a booth! We are hoping to sell merkintwinkles (fortunetellers) and bookmarks themed with the Bible. They both include Bible verses related to the saint(s) pictured. Bookmarks: reminders to look at that particular verse. Fortunetellers: fortunes. It will be fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the money raised goes to the church's ministries.
This Friday is also my birthday!! I can't

TV and Merkintwinkles (I know they sound like dumb titles)

Hello, readers! I am a fan of Food Network. At our house, it isn't always like "kids vs parents" on TV. All of us pretty much like the shows like Challenge,Unwrapped, Ace of Cakes, and some others.
Our church's Street Fair is coming up, and I had an idea for a booth: biblical merkintwinkles! Merkintwinkles are the Christian name for fortunetellers (that name isn't used by us because we don't believe in fortunes). Here is a link to some directions:

A Post About Falling Asleep

This is a note I wrote on Dad's facebook page last week:

Some nights, I've had trouble falling asleep. Here is what I've learned that has helped me.

First, it helps if you have lots of stuffed animals, or dolls.

Boys: action figures can be substituted as well.

So, then, pick out a random stuffed animal and then think of one thing related to it. Then try to think of something else related to THAT. For example, if I looked at my stuffed lion, I might think of the Sun (because of its mane and yellow fur). Then I might think of the Moon, since both the Sun and the Moon are in the sky and give us light.

Then, once you've thought of as many items as possible, try to relate your last item back to your stuffed animal. For example, if I thought of a palm tree for my last item, I might relate it back to my lion by thinking how it is similar to the lion's tail. See?

Keep on going through your pile of stuffed animals. I bet you will be asleep before you get to the fifth stuffed animal! Happy dreams!

Love, Maggie

First Entry!!!!

This is the first post! Whoo - hoo!

Its Wednesday, and we are about three and a half weeks into the new school year. I am enjoying third grade very much.

I am taking tennis lessons for the first time! Our gym teacher, whom I love, is giving lessons after school on Tuesdays. My sister Nora is taking lessons with me (she did it last year). We are also part of a cool writing club that meets after school on Mondays. I am working on my project which will be a short story. It is called "The Beauty of the Groundhog." I know, it sounds like one of those novels that your mom might pick up. But it will be great!

Here is what I have so far, in summary:

Two groundhogs, a boy and a girl, live in the middle of a forest in the middle of Illinois. This takes place in the time of the very first settlers. A lot of people are cutting down the trees in their forest to create log cabins for themselves. This is endangering the groundhogs' habitat, not to mention all of the other animals of the forest! The groundhogs decide to go on strike. They steal all of the settlers' supplies; which includes food, water, building supplies, clothing and other necessities. They keep on doing so until they come to an agreement with the log cabin people. The agreement says that the log cabin people will plant trees to replace the ones they have cut down in the forest.

And so, I guess that's the end of this post! See you next post!
